Chamber Music Seminar for Adults

August 16-20, 2010

Lake Placid, NY

This seminar offers string players, clarinetists, flutists and pianists the opportunity to play and study great chamber music in New York's beautiful Adirondack Park.  Participants will work with world-class faculty in a relaxed and supportive  atmosphere, focusing on ensemble techniques and general musicianship. Participants may come as individuals or as part of pre-formed groups.

Program Information

A typical day will include morning and afternoon coaching sessions plus optional evening activities  including  master classes, a faculty concert, sight-reading, a participant  performance and a special class with coach Laura Klugherz:  "Awareness Through Movement for Musicians:  Exploring movement for safer, more effective, and highly efficient self-use -- an introduction to the Feldenkrais method for musicians."  

A late afternoon break will allow time for recreation, rest, sight-reading or enjoying the group social hour before dinner.

Participants enrolling as individuals should have a command of the instrument adequate for playing chamber  music and reading music comfortably. (Levels A, B, or C+  by the ACMP - The Chamber Music Network's self grading system at www.acmp.net. 

Application Procedure

Tuition for the entire week is $650.  Initial applications with a $100 refundable fee is due on May 3rd.  Applications for registration will be reviewed for acceptance by May 15th.  $100 is refundable only to applicants who withdraw before the May 3rd application deadline or are declined.  The balance of $550 will be due on May 30th.
